How to Install Cinnamon 1.4 (User Interface) in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin

Cinnamon is a new Linux Desktop interface developed by Famous Linux Mint Team.Cinnamon is derived from Gnome but it has unique appearance.GNOME 3 failed to impress it's users.Unity interface became a trade mark of Ubuntu.Only Ubuntu loaded with Unity interface.

GNOME 3 and Unity are not flexible and powerful.These interface uses more system resources.This make our computer slow for old computer's .According to Distrowatch result Ubuntu fall to 4 th place and Linux Mint still remains in the top[Last 30 days -June 24 2012].Linux Mint has  introduce Cinnamon interface when Gnome failed to get attention.Linux Mint 13 use Cinnamon as default Desktop interface it also has a low power interface called MATE which is for Low power Computer.

Cinnamon now available for other Linux also.It available in Ubuntu,Fedora,OpenSUSE and more.

Lets take a look on How you can Install Cinnamon in Ubuntu 12.04

1.Open Terminal

2.Enter  these codes

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable

3.Enter password

4.Press Enter for Install.
ctrl-c for Cancel

5.After that enter this code

sudo apt-get update

But we use another method which is simple and easy

1.Download Cinnamon package for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Download Cinnamon 1.4 for 64 bit computer
Cinnamon 1.4 64 bit

Download Cinnamon 1.4 for 32 bit computer
Cinnamon 1.4 32 bit

Download these Deb files

2.After Download double click on Deb file

3.It will open with Ubuntu software center

4.Click on Install.Restart it after installation

Select Cinnamon from login desktop
