  4. ubuntu 12.04 will not ship with terminal is just joke made by some frustrated fanboys who just does not accept the recent changes happened to ubuntu.  In below his article he specifically wrote that it is just a joke. To copy that as a valid information is a shame.  Mark Shuttleworth probably does not know yet some people are making *new* 12.04 without a terminal out there!!!!!!!!!! :)

  7. you don't have to use the terminal, but it can be alot faster to use it in stead of using the graphical-way. and the X-server is running in virtual terminal 7 anyway, so a quick ctrl+alt+F1 will kill the graphical part and you'll have a nice terminal interface. the terminal is completely integrated in the system, so you cannot get rid if it! and you don't wat to get rid of it because if you do 9 out of 10 sh-scripts will not work cause these scripts require a terminal!

  8. no terminal impossible how are users going to install packages I mean USC is useful but the majority of  my installations have been done via the terminal

  9. even though it is a joke, I wouldn't have been surprised. They are RUINING Ubuntu. The last Ubuntu I adore and still use is Lucid Lynx 10.04, after that, ubuntu just died on me. It's bulky, resource hog, lots of un-needed software that I never use, unity is buggy, the bar is ugly and annoying. Everything about unity makes me gag. I'm sticking to Lucid Lynx and going to create my own mirror/repository for it and keep it even when they decide to do away with it.

  14. Not that a terminal emulator can't be installed from USC. But I hope it's really a joke. How am I supposed to run sudo, su, sh, dpkg directly? They can't get rid of that; it's necessary for the kernel.
